From livestock exhibition to strawberry picking to flea markets to the famous Riley Festival, fairs and festivals are a way of life in Indiana.
Riley Festival
The most famous festival of Indiana is celebrated in the city of Greenfield in Hancock County to mark the birth anniversary of the poet, James Whitcomb Riley. This 60-year-old traditional festival is host to the biggest craft exhibitions in Indiana, and the most famous Children’s Parade of Flowers. Exhibits of fine arts, clothes, food, photographs, decorated pumpkin shows, home products are some of the displays in the Riley Festival. Apart from these, there are the regular flea markets that complete this festival.
4-H Festival
The biggest exhibitions of livestock and animals are held every year in the counties of Indiana State as a celebration of life and livestock. Animals like llama, pigs, goats, horses, sheep and even dogs and cats are featured in contests like picture demonstrations and contests. The 4-H festival not only showcases animal exhibitions, but also features traditional fun and homely Hoosier lifestyle. Therefore, along with animals, there are carnivals, games, rides, live country music, homemade baked products and handmade crafts that capture the eyes of all present.
Pennsy Trail Art Fair and Music Festival (PTAF)
If other festivals stand for cultural fun, the Pennsy Trail Art Fair and Music Festival (PTAF) stands for the test of the art, crafts and musical quotient of the Hancock community. It is a juried event dedicated to the promotion of visual and literary arts.
